Arts Taunton’s September Open Meeting

Museum of Somerset

ArtsTaunton’s next open meeting will be held at The Museum of Somerset on Monday, 24th September, starting at 4.00pm.

Please register here as soon as possible. Attendance is FREE. However, the Museum has asked us to confirm numbers to allow staff to prepare the Great Hall and make arrangements for the service of teas and coffees. This will be an important meeting and we shall be calling for your input on an exciting agenda. Firstly, the Brownsword Charitable Foundation’s £250,000 pledge underpins our long-term plans for Taunton’s annual Youth Festival which will be launched in the autumn of 2019. We will update you on progress and are keen to discuss the way ahead with you. We are looking for more stakeholders in this great enterprise and, not least, the appointment of a Festival Director. The second big item on the agenda is the consultation we are conducting in Halcon and the area around the UK Hydrographic Office to tap opinion on the prospects for an iconic artwork atop Creechbarrow Hill. Tom Mayberry, fellow ArtsTaunton director/trustee and CEO of the South West Heritage Trust, will introduce this session, and members of the Halcon One Team, led by Coordinator Richard Shadrick, will present the outcomes so far in the consultation process. All this, PLUS an opportunity to meet Sam Astill, the SW Heritage Trust’s new Head of Museums, who will be giving a brief talk on the Museum of Somerset, its ambitions and the role it plays in the cultural life of Taunton. So, please register now and join the debate on 24th September! We look forward to welcoming you.
