Taunton Youth Republic – everyone is invited to expect the unexpected!
Taunton Youth Republic, created and delivered by young people with artist Thomas Goddard, will be presented in Castle House and the Courtyard of the Museum of Somerset over the weekend of 1st and 2nd November. Join us to see an exhibition of the research and creative workshops behind Taunton Youth Republic and participate in round-table discussions about the future of Taunton and the role young people play in it.
Tyca is working in partnership with Somerset Art Works and South West Heritage Trust to deliver Taunton Youth Republic, based around the Tyca Festival theme of Breaking Down Barriers. Artist Thomas Goddard has been working with students from Richard Huish College, Taunton Deane Partnership College and the University Centre Somerset, in a series of workshops and visits to the Somerset Heritage Centre.
Taunton Youth Republic is designed to support discussion, empathy and understanding between the people of Taunton through the history and current day realities of social justice and equity. You can find out more at: www.tauntonyouthrepublic.home.blog
Join in to see and hear the artistic responses of young people, and find out what is important to them in Breaking Down Barriers in today’s world.
Taunton Youth Republic does not necessarily represent the views of Tyca, Arts Taunton, Somerset Art Weeks or The South West Heritage Trust.
